For the 60th Anniversary edition of Milano Design Week, Zalaba Design goes vegan, focusing on sustainability without compromising on aesthetics. Zalaba’s core purpose is to design contemporary furniture, following its Bauhaus roots while considering an environmental impact. Zalaba Design enables you to have a luxurious, high-end design without sacrificing your desire to create sustainable living.
Think juices and jams think JANE – A sustainable approach to reduce waste and pollution.
Zalaba Design is launching the JANE collection made with steel and apple core leather. This vegan leather is made in Italy by upcycling apple pomace and peel. The criteria for the JANE collection are local production, longevity, material separation and eco-friendly sources.
The JANE collection is a modern interpretation of the Otto Kolb Bauhaus Classique’s with a sustainable twist. It combines artisan craftsmanship with the purity of form and function.
The essence of materials is just as important as the quality of design. Why compromise and ignore our environmental problems? Who knew that whilst you’re sitting you could also be saving the planet?
JANE – Contribute towards a better future.
The family business Zalaba Design is a Zurich based design studio, modernizing the Otto Kolb Bauhaus Classique’s. Zalaba Design stands for bespoke furniture, luxury real estate and modern interior design. “Our goal is to provide impeccable service to help you realize and sell unique spaces around the world, whilst creating well-being.”
With over 500 combinations of the finest Italian leathers, fabrics, woods, metals, glasses, and marbles you have the flexibility to create your own piece of art. Each customized design is as unique as its owner.
GINGER ZALABA – GRANDDAUGHTER OF BAUHAUS MASTER OTTO KOLB
Ginger Zalaba graduated with a master’s degree in Exhibition Design from the Zurich University of the Arts. In addition, she studied Interior Design at IED Milan. At the young age of twenty-six, she became the head of the family business and took over her grandfather’s Bauhaus legacy with the ambition to modernize it.
In 2015, Ginger Zalaba launched her first collection KOLB. International exhibitions followed which ultimately led to a collaboration with Walter Knoll and a handful of design awards.
Today, the Bauhaus lives on to provide us with an aesthetic which has remained relevant for over a hundred years. Ginger Zalaba has managed to take on this aesthetic and develop it further in her own way of interior and furniture design: unusually different, yet sensual and beautiful.
